Performing Arts Level 2
BTEC Level 2 First Award in Performing Arts
You can study this course as a dance specialist, drama specialist or a combination of both.
This is a three unit course, one of which is externally assessed:
Unit 1: Individual showcase
This unit consists of two solo performances performed to a camera as part of an audition, this is accompanied by a letter of application that is written under controlled conditions.
The other two units are internally assessed:
Unit 3: Acting skills or unit 4 Dance skills
Unit 2: Preparation, production and performance
Learners will gain a taste and an appreciation of performing arts, through knowledge and experience of the performance process, how to prepare and reflect to enable progress and will participate in practical workshop to develop skills in acting or dance that can be applied to a performance.
Learners will also work as part of a company to prepare and produce a show of their choice. Imagination, creativity, collaboration and independent learning skills are all encouraged to be successful on this course.
Experience in dance and or drama is helpful but not essential, experience could be a performing art subject that was studied at key stage three or GCSE or if dance or drama was taken up as a hobby.
