3D Design Level 3
OCR Cambridge Technical Introductory Diploma Art and Design: 3D Design.
OCR 600/6095/5
Students on this course can expect to work within the various disciplines under the 3D/product design umbrella. They will explore the design process through practising key skills that are required of a designer such as research, drawing and sketching, model making, CAD/CAM and practical design making skills. Contextual links will be made between the students' own work and that of other artists and designers.
We visit a range of exhibitions and design spaces during the course.
Our new state-of-the-art facilities allow our students to prosper. We have new workshops complete cutting edge equipment such as a 3D printer, Laser cutter, CNC router, CNC lathe and milling machine, industry standard software and laptops, all combined with traditional tools and equipment.
Across the two years students will complete a variety of projects that will contribute to six units of work. There is no final examination. All units are assessed and then a final grade will be awarded of Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction*. The OCR Cambridge Technical is equivalent to 1 A Level and therefore can be taken alongside other awards and A/AS Levels.
Students who wish to specialise in 3D Design can progress on to a full-time degree course in 3D Design, Industrial design, Product design or Architecture. Career opportunities include product design, furniture design, interior design, architecture, engineering and many others.
