This course is a practical applied learning course. Students learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on typical work place situations with a fashion and textiles focus. Students gain knowledge and understanding of materials, techniques and processes used within fashion and textiles. The projects include designing and making a variety of fashion and clothing pieces. Students also have the opportunity to extend and enrich their knowledge through gallery, workshop and exhibition visits. Across the two years students will complete a variety of projects that will contribute to six units of work. There is no final examination. All units are assessed and then a final grade will be awarded of Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction*. The OCR Cambridge Technical is equivalent to 1 A Level and therefore can be taken alongside other awards and A/AS Levels.
This course may lead to university, fashion and textile design, styling, clothes-making, promotion and retail.
