Film Studies A Level
Film Studies A Level
WJEC 50026124
In the AS course we study the British and American film industries; you will have the chance to learn how films are made, produced and funded. We then move on to explore key examples of British and American cinema (we will cover Blade Runner, This Is England and Inception among many others). Students will learn to appreciate the film making process and incorporate theory and production factors in their analysis. This part of the course is assessed by two exams and forms 60% of AS grade. The other 30% comes from coursework. Students make their own short film focusing on camera angles, mis-en-scene and sound. In the A2 year we will move on to explore wider issues across the global history of film, explore documentary filmmaking and complete a further creative project.
Film is a growing industry. Students can develop their knowledge and specialise in a specific area of Film at University. Future careers could include advertising, film/TV production, marketing and journalism.
